Çanakkale 1915..the longest suspension bridge in the world
Çanakkale Bridge, the largest edifice to be built in the field of transport and bridges in the world. The bridge will be built over the Dardanelles Strait. The bridge is part of a highway project to link three Turkish states: Tekir Dağ, Çanakkale, and Balikesir, which will be 352 km long.
Many Gulf and Korean parties have participated in investing in the Çanakkale Bridge, which plays a major role in Turkey's vision of 2022, and is one of the most important projects in the field of transportation within Turkey's new vision.
Through its projects, Turkey is trying to achieve great achievements on the path of its desired dream, whether in terms of gross product figures, tourism and export revenues, or even the inauguration of unprecedented facilities considered the most important in the world, including the "Eurasia" tunnels that connect the Asian and European parts of Istanbul to each other under the The bottom of the Bosphorus, or waterways such as the Istanbul Canal, or bridges such as Çanakkale 1915 that commemorate the famous battle during World War I.
The bridge will shorten the time to cross the Dardanelles Strait to 6 minutes
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced that the Çanakkale 1915 Bridge and the Malagara Expressway will enter service on March 18.
This came in press statements after the end of the government meeting headed by Erdogan at the Presidential Complex in the capital, Ankara.
Erdogan said: "We will put the bridge and highway that we worked day and night and completed into service on March 18th, to coincide with the anniversary of the victory in the Battle of Çanakkale."
According to previous statements by Erdogan, the bridge will shorten the time to cross the Dardanelles Strait to 6 minutes, and its length is 4,200 meters.
The height of the "Çanakkale 1915" bridge is 318 meters and symbolizes the date of March 18, 1915 (the day of victory in the Battle of Çanakkale).
Benefits of the new Çanakkale Bridge
1915 Çanakkale Bridge is a modern transportation infrastructure that adds economic and social value to Turkey thanks to its advanced accessibility, high capacity for freight and passengers, reduced travel times and increased road safety and integration into the highway network.
- Manufacturing, trade and services industries in Thrace and Western Anatolia will gain greater momentum
Faster and more cost-effective freight transport will not only boost the economic activity of this region, but also strengthen social ties.
- A new alternative to the Bosphorus.
The heavy transit traffic load generated by Istanbul between Europe and Asia will be eased. The traffic load currently concentrated in Western Anatolia will be balanced by the west-east axis centered in Istanbul in a southerly direction along the western shores of the Marmara Sea.
- Several highways in western Turkey will be integrated.
The project forms the pivotal part of the Kınalı-Tekirdağ-Çanakkale-Savaștepe Highway Project, which contributes to the integration of a series of highways that surround the Marmara Sea and their integration into the Gebze-İzmir Expressway.
- The project will provide continuous employment in both the construction and management phases.
By employing thousands of people during construction and management periods and stimulating different industries, the project will contribute significantly to the Turkish economy.
- Reducing delivery times and transportation costs, thus stimulating foreign trade.
Once the project is launched, vehicle management costs and travel times will be optimized. Facilitating the movement of transport will lead to gains in the import and export sectors.
- Activating domestic and international tourism.
Trade relations as well as cultural interaction with European countries and the Balkans, especially Greece and Bulgaria, will be affected. The connection of the Knyal-Tekirdak-Canakkale-Balikesir highway to the Gebze-Izmir highway near the city of Balikesir will shorten the distance from tourist centers such as Izmir, Aydin and Antalya to European countries, which will lead to progress in tourism.
