Home sales in Turkey increase by 107.5 percent annually
Home sales across Turkey increased by 107.5 percent in May compared to the same month the previous year and became 122 thousand 768.
And housing sales to foreigners increased by 235.7 percent annually to 5 thousand 962. Most of the sales were made to Russians
Istanbul had the highest share of home sales, with 22,148 homes, or 18.0 percent.
According to the number of sales, it was followed by Ankara with 11,497 sales and a share of 9.4 percent, and Izmir with 7 thousand 159 sales and a share of 5.8 percent. The provinces with the lowest number of home sales are Hakkari with 21 houses, Ardahan with 43 houses and Baybert with 75 houses respectively.
Increase mortgage sales
Sales of foreclosed homes across Turkey increased by 177.8 percent in May compared to the same month the previous year and became 29,335.
The share of foreclosed sales of total home sales was 23.9%. On the other hand, sales of foreclosed homes in the January-May period rose 72.3 percent over the same period a year earlier and became 129,707.
6 thousand 161 mortgage sales in May; 31,885 of the mortgaged sales in the January-May period were direct sales.
Other home sales in Turkey rose by 92.2 percent in May compared to the same month a year earlier and became 93 thousand 433.
The share of other sales in total home sales was 76.1 percent.
Sales of other homes in the January-May period amounted to 446,182 homes, an increase of 30.2 percent over the same period the previous year.
Foreign sales increased to 235.7 percent
The number of home sales in Turkey increased by 80.5 percent in May compared to the same month the previous year, and it became 32,861 homes.
The share of first home sales of total home sales was 26.8 percent.
In the January-May period, direct home sales increased 28.1 percent compared to the same period a year earlier and amounted to 163 thousand 719.
And sales of used homes in Turkey increased by 119.5 percent in May compared to the same month of the previous year and became 89 thousand 907. The share of second-hand home sales of total housing sales was 73.2 percent.
Sales of second-hand homes in the January-May period rose 42.0 percent from the same period a year earlier and amounted to 412,000 170.
And home sales to foreigners increased by 235.7 percent in May compared to the same month in the previous year and became 5 thousand 962. In May, the share of home sales to foreigners in total home sales was 4.9 percent. Istanbul ranked first in home sales to foreigners with 2,451 homes sold. It is followed by Antalya with 1,885 homes sold and Mersin with 264 homes respectively.
In the January-May period, home sales to foreigners increased by 70.0 percent compared to the same period in the previous year and became 26 thousand 753.
In May, citizens of the Russian Federation bought 1,275 houses from Turkey. Iran followed citizens of the Russian Federation with 736 residences and Iraqi citizens with 617 residences, respectively.
