Turkey is a favorite destination for wealthy yachts
After many countries recently imposed travel restrictions - especially in some destinations located on the main coasts of the Mediterranean - Turkey has become the preferred destination for the world's wealthy.
Turkey's economic figures are surprising, as it has always been a magnet for the Russian elite, but today it is attracting more and more wealthy people from all over the world.
Recently, the Turkish coasts, especially the southern ones, have witnessed a great turnout by the world's rich and famous, where they anchor their luxury yachts, making Turkey one of the world's most preferred destinations for wealthy yachts.
In early November, two giant yachts owned by billionaire Microsoft founder Bill Gates and Amazon founder Jeff Bezos anchored off the coast of Bodrum in the Turkish state of Mugla.
This is not the first time that Bezos' yacht has anchored off the Turkish coast, but the Mugla Bays have previously hosted the famous businessman's yacht, the last of which was during the summer of last year.
Turkey attracts the world's rich despite Corona
According to Bloomberg, Turkey has attracted the world's wealthy, while the number of yachts in locations such as Spain and France has declined, as a result of the re-imposition of travel restrictions due to the high number of Covid-19 infections in the French Riviera.
In July 2020, the yacht known as "Shahrzad" - owned by a famous billionaire in the Middle East - anchored in Bodrum. The length of this yacht is about 140 meters, and it is classified as one of the largest luxury yachts in the world.
In mid-August 2020, the 136-meter "Flying Fox" yacht was spotted off the coast of Bodrum, owned by the American businessman and CEO of Amazon, Jeff Bezos, who rents it at an estimated cost of $ 4 million a week.
Croatia, Turkey and Greece have been at the forefront three years ago in the number of yachts anchored off their coasts, as the number of incoming boats in Croatia has increased by 25 boats since 2019, 12 boats in Turkey, and 10 boats in Greece, according to a report by the Qatari Al Jazeera network.
The magazine emphasized that Turkey's attraction of yachts of this type serves the interests of the country, which has long been trying to become a first-class international maritime center.
The magazine quoted Bianca Nestor, who works in the field of luxury yacht rental within the London-based company "Burgess", that the travel restrictions imposed by many countries made Turkey the best haven.
